This 1977 Kawasaki KE175 is an enduro-style motorcycle that is powered by a 175cc two-stroke single paired with a five-speed transmission and finished in red with silver fenders. Equipment consists of a CDI ignition module, oil injection, a side stand, a luggage rack, street lighting, a UNI air filter, and a 21″ front wheel. The bike was acquired by the seller in 2018, reportedly from its second owner who had previously refinished the fuel tank and fenders, reupholstered the seat, and replaced the sprockets, rear turn signals, and shocks. Service carried out in October 2020 consisted of lubricating the drive chain and air filter, replacement of the battery, an oil change, and brake adjustment. This KE175 is offered at no reserve with its removed stock shocks and sprockets as well as a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The fuel tank was refinished in red with replacement white and orange fade decals under previous ownership. The front fender was reportedly painted, the rear powder-coated, and a replacement seat cover and rear turn signals fitted. Corrosion is noted on the chrome luggage rack, and the fuel tank has a nick near the fuel filler cap.
Chrome wire-spoke wheels measuring 21″ front and 18″ rear wear older enduro-style tires. Suspension consists of a conventional fork as well as dual replacement shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is from drums at both ends, which were adjusted in October 2020.
The chrome handlebar features a center cross-brace in addition to light and horn switches on the left and a run switch on the right. Instrumentation includes a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 100-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 14k miles, 1,500 of which have been ridden by the seller.
The 175cc two-stroke single produced 17 horsepower when new and features a rotary inlet valve, CDI ignition, oil injection, and a black high-mount exhaust system. Service in October 2020 consisted of an oil change and replacement of the six-volt battery as well as cleaning the inside of the exhaust, the fuel drain pump, and the replacement UNI air filter.
Power is routed to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and a drive chain that was cleaned and lubricated in October 2020. The front and rear sprockets have been changed to 16-tooth and 45-tooth versions respectively, and the stock versions are included in the sale. A cold-start video can be viewed below.
