This 1972 Buick Skylark Sun Coupe was modified during a body-off refurbishment completed during previous ownership. Work included powder coating the frame, reupholstering the interior in white leather, repainting the body in its current shade of red, and installing a fuel-injected 455ci V8 equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, long tube headers, and a dual exhaust system. Additional equipment includes a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, a Positraction rear end, four-wheel disc brakes, Hotchkis suspension components, 18″ US Mag Rambler wheels, a Retrosound multimedia stereo, air conditioning, and a white vinyl roof with a sliding sunroof. This Skylark Sun Coupe is now offered by the selling dealer in Fountain Hills, Arizona with a repair manual, service records, and a clean Montana title.
The body was removed from the frame and refinished in its current shade of red with a white vinyl roof and pinstripes. The sliding sunroof is shown in its open position in the gallery, and additional features include a GS Stage 2-style hood and emblems, Sun Coupe badging, and chrome bumpers.
Staggered-width 18″ US Mag Rambler alloy wheels wear Buick center caps and are wrapped in BFGoodrich tires sized 245/40 up front and 255/45 in back showing 2011 production codes. The car is equipped with TA Performance four-wheel disc brakes, a steering gearbox reportedly sourced from a Camaro, and Hotchkis Sport Suspension sway bars, springs, and bushings.
The interior was refreshed with white leather upholstery and matching door panels, along with black replacement carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, a Retrosound multimedia stereo linked with speakers in the kick panels, a Hurst shifter, and power windows.
A three-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilting column frames a replacement 200-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit mechanical odometer indicates 284 miles, though true mileage is unknown.
The 455ci Buick V8 has reportedly been fitted with aluminum cylinder heads, an Imagine Injection electronic fuel injection system, an aftermarket pulley system, an aluminum radiator, long tube headers, a dual-outlet exhaust system with Thrush Turbo mufflers, a Fuelab fuel pressure regulator, and a polished air cleaner and valve covers. An oil change was recently performed.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a Tremec KTO600 five-speed manual transmission and a 2.72:1 Positraction rear end. The frame was powder coated black during the refurbishment process and repairs were made to the clutch hydraulic system in June 2021.
