BaT Auction: 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa G50

This 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is finished in Grand Prix White over white, and its 3.2-liter flat-six drives the rear wheels through a five-speed G50 manual transaxle. Features include a removable Targa roof panel, factory color-keyed 16″ Fuchs wheels, a Blaupunkt Reno stereo, air conditioning, a factory short shifter, and Coco floor mats. The selling dealer acquired the car on BaT in January 2017, and has since added approximately 500 miles of the under 54k miles it now shows. Service in June 2020 included an oil change. This 911 Carrera Targa is now offered with its window sticker, factory manuals, a tool roll, a stamped maintenance booklet and service records, removed factory floor mats, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington title.

The car is finished in Grand Prix White and features a removable Targa roof panel and integrated front fog lights. The seller notes imperfections in the paintwork including an area with cracking near the left-rear fender. Condition of the lenses and trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below, and a video highlighting the paintwork as well as paint-meter readings can be viewed at the link.

Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs wheels were optioned from the factory with color-keyed faces and wear Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires measuring 205/55 up front and 225/50 out back. Braking is handled by ventilated disc brakes with two-piston rotors at each corner.

The interior features bolstered seats trimmed in white partial leather over matching white carpets that are protected by darker Coco mats. Factory equipment includes a short shifter, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, an eight-speaker sound system, and an optional Blaupunkt Reno cassette player. The shift knob shows wear, and the previous listing noted that the windshield sprayer was inoperable. The seller states that the factory floor mats will accompany the sale.

A four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of factory VDO instrumentation that includes a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 170-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and combination gauges. The six-digit odometer shows under 54k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The air-cooled 3.2L flat-six was rated for 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The included service booklet shows stamped entries through 30k miles, and the valves were adjusted during prior ownership at 47k miles. An oil change was performed at European AutoHaus in Spokane, Washington in June 2020.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed G50 manual transaxle with a hydraulically-actuated clutch. Two photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below, and the previous listing indicates that a dent is present under the right-side sill from improper jacking.

The window sticker shows selected factory options along with a total price of $54,068, and the option sticker is provided in the gallery.

The July 2020 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration activity in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Arizona, and Washington.

A start-up video is shown above, and driving footage is presented below.
