This 1971 BMW 2002 is a round-taillight example that was kept by its long-term owner in California for nearly 20 years prior to the current owner’s purchase in an April 2017 BaT auction. The car is powered by a numbers-matching 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and finished in Colorado Orange over Saddle Brown vinyl. Work performed during current ownership has included removal of an aftermarket CD player and installation of a new battery. This 2002 is offered on dealer consignment with its original purchase order, service history from new, a spare wheel and jack, and a clean Arizona title.

Service records are said to show periodic mileage readings from new, though the odometer gears were noted to be faulty by the previous owner. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter inline-four breathes through a Weber 32/36 DGAV carburetor and a matching manifold that were installed during previous ownership. Additional modifications include a 2002tii distributor and Pertronix electronic ignition module.
A four-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. An oil change and installation of a new battery were performed by the current owner. Additional images of the underbody can be viewed in the gallery below.
