This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is finished in Silver Grey Metallic over black MB-Tex and was acquired in August 2020 by the selling dealer from the previous owner of 25 years. The car is powered by a replacement fuel-injected 2.8L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a replacement black soft top, a Becker Mexico cassette deck, tool kit, and the soft top release handles in their factory case. Service most recently performed during prior ownership consisted of replacing the fuel pump and the subframe mounts. This W113 is offered by the selling dealer with a removable black hardtop and a clean Oregon title.

The car is finished in Silver Grey Metallic (DB180) and features chrome bumpers and trim as well as a replacement Sonnenland canvas convertible top. Paint chips, touch-ups, dents, and scrapes are visible on multiple body panels along with two tears in the metal rocker panels that are said to have been caused by improper use of tie-down hooks. Plating loss can be seen on the front bumper and delamination is present on the lower corners of the Mercedes-branded windshield. The black Pagoda hardtop shown fitted in the photo above and in detail in the gallery below.

Factory 14” steel wheels retain their black-painted covers and are fitted with 195/75 Bridgestone Roadhandler whitewall tires. A spare wheel, jack, and tools are located in the trunk.

The cabin is upholstered in black MB-Tex with a matching dash pad and door panels, and the salt-and-pepper carpets are protected by 280SL-branded floor mats. Amenities include seat belts, a heater, a Becker Mexico cassette deck, and a JVC CD player housed in the glovebox that is linked to a pair of Infinity speakers. The sun visors have been dyed black, and the heater levers have been replaced according to the selling dealer. Wear is evident on the driver’s seat outer bolster, and cracks are visible on the top of the dash.

The factory two-spoke steering wheel is retained, and shows cracks on each side. It sits ahead of a body-colored dash panel that houses VDO instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure gauges. 15k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, and total mileage is unknown.

The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six is said to be replacement sourced from a 280SE of similar vintage fitted by a previous owner. A new fuel pump was installed in 2019 and the subframe bushings were replaced during previous ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Photos provided in the gallery show the spot welds along the inner fenders
