This 1986 Audi Quattro was acquired by the seller approximately one year ago and was modified in Sweden as an S1 E2 Group B rally car tribute before being recently imported to the US. The exterior is finished in white with a period Audi Sport replica livery laid over E2-style aerodynamic bodywork, and the interior features Sparco racing seats, an FIA-spec roll cage, a carbon fiber dashboard, and a quick-release steering wheel. The 2.2-liter inline-five is fitted with a Turbonetics 60mm turbocharger, forged JE pistons, a ported cylinder head, and a dry sump lubrication system, while power is sent to all four wheels through a close-ratio six-speed sequential manual transmission. Additional equipment is said to include a Bilstein coilover suspension, kevlar doors and roof, Compomotive wheels, an ATL fuel cell, and much more as outlined below. This Quattro is now being offered with photos from the build and transferrable Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.
The body was stripped to bare metal and fitted with a kevlar S1-style shortened roof, aerodynamic extended fenders, and front and rear spoilers prior to a repaint in white. A period-style livery resembling that featured on Walter Rohrl’s 1985 Sanremo rally-winning S1 Quattro has been applied to the exterior, and additional features include a quick-release rear window, kevlar doors with sliding lightweight Safir windows, Bosch fog lamps with covers, and smoked tail lights.
The car rides on white five-spoke Compomotive S1 wheels wrapped in Michelin tires and mounted to racing-spec wheel studs. The Bilstein coilover suspension was reportedly built by Sellholm Tuning of Sweden. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel vented discs with Audi S8 calipers, stainless-steel braided brake lines, and a hydraulic handbrake. A walk-around tour of the exterior is presented above.
The cabin has been outfitted with dual Sparco fixed-back seats with TRS harnesses and a carbon-fiber dashboard with an anti-reflective top. Equipment includes an FIA-spec rollcage, a rally computer, digital gear indicator, heater, and metal floor plates. A video tour of the interior can be viewed here.
A three-spoke steering wheel is equipped with a quick-release and fronts a suite of VDO instrumentation that includes a 300-km/h speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. A push-button start and toggle switches for vehicle functions have been added, and the digital odometer currently shows two miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.2-liter 20V inline-five has reportedly been fitted with a Turbonetics 60mm T3 turbo, Precision Turbo 46mm wastegate, and a NS Racecars custom intercooler, as well as the following modifications:
- ATL FIA-spec fuel cell with a Bosch fuel pump
- MaxxECU engine management
- Auto Verdi/VS Motor dry-sump lubrication system
- Custom exhaust manifold by Sweden Exhaust
- Forged JE pistons with H-beam rods
- Upgraded camshafts
- Ported cylinder head
- Inconel valves
- Oil pre-heater
- Rear-mounted oil and water coolers with triple SPAL 10” fans
All four wheels are driven through a close-ratio six-speed sequential dog box transmission that was reportedly built by Drag Power Team of Bulgaria with a Sachs pressure plate along with a five-puck sintered clutch. Additional underbody images are provided below.
A number of photos from the build process are also included in the gallery, and a video of the car revving can be seen below, along with three driving videos.
