This Mazda RX-7 is one of 138 R1 examples produced in black over a black interior for the 1993 model year and was acquired by the seller in September 1994. Power is from a twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter rotary paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes pop-up headlights, front and rear spoilers, smoked taillights, Bilstein shocks, an aftermarket exhaust system with a Peter Farrell Supercars muffler, air conditioning, a factory cassette player, and an aftermarket CD changer. This FD3S R1 indicates 73k miles and is offered with three service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The redesigned FD RX-7 was introduced to the US market for the 1992 model year, and this example is finished in black. Exterior features include R1-specific front and rear spoilers and smoked taillight lenses as well as pop-up headlights that can be seen raised in the photo gallery below. Paint chips are visible on the forward surfaces and rust can be seen in the right rear wheel well.
Factory 16″ wheels are mounted with Yokohama AV1-50i tires that the seller notes are in need of replacement. Bilstein shock absorbers and firmer springs were fitted to all R1 examples.

Instrumentation consists of a central tachometer with am 8k-rpm redline and a 180-mph speedometer. The digital odometer indicates 73k miles, of which approximately 42k have been added by the seller.
The twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter 13B-REW rotary engine features Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 255 horsepower with 217 lb-ft of torque when new. An auxiliary engine oil cooler was equipped from the factory along with an RX-7-branded front strut tower brace. The seller states that he has performed basic maintenance personally, and additional service has been handed by Eurosport of Springfield, Illinois. An oil change was most recently completed in June 2020.
A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The clutch was replaced by Green Mazda of Springfield, Illinois in 2006 at 62k miles. A straight-pipe exhaust system with a Peter Farrell Supercars muffler has been installed.
The June 2020 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history with two owners in New York and Illinois through the latest entry in November 2019.
