BaT Auction: 427-Powered 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 5-Speed

This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is powered by a ZL1 Anniversary Edition 427ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. It was acquired by the current owner in 2015 while it was part-way through a refurbishment, and completion of the project included a  refresh of the interior along with updates to the exhaust system, staggered 17″ wheels, coilover suspension, and Baer disc brakes. This A.O. Smith-bodied C2 is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean North Carolina title.

The exterior was refinished in its factory shade of Marina Blue (976) under previous ownership. Features include a stinger hood with white accents and “Anniversary 427” badging, as well as factory chrome trim and split bumpers. Close-up photos of the paintwork, badging, and trim are included in the gallery below.

Staggered-width 17″ American Racing wheels have a polished finish and wear BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires measuring 235/45 in the front and 245/45 at the rear. Adjustable coilover shocks and Baer disc brakes are fitted all around, and a rack-and-pinion steering conversion has been installed.

The cabin features bucket seats reupholstered in blue vinyl (414) and color-matching door panels and carpeting. The factory vertically mounted Delco AM/FM radio remains in place, and additions include a Vintage Air climate-control system and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel.

Instrumentation consists of a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 11k miles, 2,000 of which have been added by the current owner.

The trim tag located below the glovebox door provides the following production details:

  • Build Date: H30 – March 30, 1967
  • Style: 67 437 – 1967 coupe
  • Trim: 414 – Bright blue vinyl upholstery
  • Body: A1547– Body #1,574 built by A.O. Smith
  • Paint: 976 – Marina Blue paint

The factory V8 has been replaced with an aluminum-block 427ci crate engine by the current owner, which is #13 of 427 examples built by GM Performance Parts for the 40th anniversary of the ZL1 V8 offered for the 1969 Camaro and Corvette. The engine was rated at 430 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 444 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm, and is said to have approximately 2k miles of use since installation. This example has been fitted with a Milodon oil pan, a Holley carburetor, and custom long-tube headers connected to a dual exhaust system.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery. A video featuring this Corvette is presented below.
