BaT Auction: 51-Mile 1975 Peugeot 504 Wagon Diesel 4-Speed Project at No Reserve

This 1975 Peugeot 504 station wagon shows just 51 miles and was reportedly purchased at Brasso Peugeot of North Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada in October 1975. The car was driven from the dealership to the original owner’s home, where it was stored in a barn until the seller and his friend extracted it in May 2020. Finished in blue over tan leather, the car is powered by a 2.1-liter diesel inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine will reportedly turn over, although no mechanical work has been performed. Electrical components were tested, and lights are shown illuminated in the photo gallery below. This Peugeot project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of his friend with a factory jack kit, two unused winter tires, and transferable British Columbia registration in the seller’s friend’s name.

The body is finished in blue and features chrome-accented window trim, door handles, drip rails, and mirrors as well as black side molding. The seller notes corrosion on the hood, roof, and driver-side fender as well as bubbling paint.

Factory 14″ steel wheels show rust and feature polished center caps and 185-width Michelin tires with 1975 date codes. The tires’ tread and mold vent spews are shown in photos in the gallery below.

Tan upholstery on the seats and door panels is complemented by matching carpets and a black dashboard. Other features include aluminum interior trim and a lockable glovebox. The seller notes that some of the protective plastic film is present on the doorsills, and corrosion is seen on some of the interior components.

Instrumentation includes a 130-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just 51 miles. Lights were tested and can be seen illuminated in gallery photos below.

The cargo area is lined with wood inlay material, and the white headliner is further shown in the gallery.

The 2,112cc XD90 diesel inline-four is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The engine is said to turn over by hand but has not been started during current ownership, and no mechanical work has been performed in 2020. Factory components including belts and hoses are said to be intact.

Additional photos showing the suspension, the chassis, and underbody corrosion are presented in the gallery.

The car was reportedly purchased new from Brasso Peugeot in North Vancouver, British Columbia and was driven to the original owner’s home and parked because that person lacked a driver’s license.

The narrated video above features the underbody, the engine compartment, the interior, and more.
