This 1972 Porsche 911 coupe is finished in light gray with dark gray stripes over a red interior, and its fuel-injected 3.8L flat-six is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The car was overhauled mechanically and cosmetically during previous ownership, and the build was completed by 2013. Work included fitting fiberglass bodywork, refinishing the exterior, redoing the interior, and rebuilding the engine as well as the transmission. Features include widened fenders, a ducktail spoiler, fixed-back bucket seats, a roll bar, a fuel cell, deep-dish Fuchs-style wheels, and aftermarket suspension. The current owner purchased the car from a private collection in 2018, and recent service has included tuning the MoTeC system and adjusting the shift linkage. This RS-style 911 is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of its owner with build receipts and a clean Florida title.
The car reportedly cost approximately $170k to build. It was refinished in Dolphin Gray with darker gray top stripes and black side stripes that have been painted on. Features include an R-style front lip, widened rear bodywork, and a ducktail spoiler with RSR script. The front and rear fenders as well as the hood and trunk lids are said to be constructed of fiberglass, and the car is equipped with an oil door on the passenger side, a feature that was found only on the 1972 model. Black 17″ Fuchs-style wheels feature polished barrels and are mounted with 245/40 front and 335/35 rear Kumho Ecsta XS tires. Bilstein shocks have been installed along with Elephant Racing suspension components.
The red interior features fixed-back bucket seats with headrests and ring-grommet ventilation. A roll bar has been added along with simplified door panels, a layered woodgrain shift knob, red carpeting with matching floor mats, Rennline pedals, a fire extinguisher, and a dash-mounted stopwatch.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of factory VDO instrumentation that includes an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and combination gauges. The five-digit odometer shows just under 95k miles, approximately 50 of which reportedly have been added over the past two years. True mileage is unknown.
A fuel cell is mounted in the front trunk, and the filler extends through the compartment’s lid.
The flat-six was rebuilt in 2013 by Willison Werkstatt, Inc of Lake Park, Florida, and it now displaces 3.8 liters. Features include a lightweight flywheel as well as MoTeC-controlled fuel injection, and the engine was re-tuned during current ownership. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed 901 manual transmission, which was also rebuilt at Willison Werkstatt, Inc. The seller notes that the shift linkage was recently adjusted. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
