BaT Auction: 12k-Mile 1992 Ferrari 348 TB

This 1992 Ferrari 348 TB is a Canadian-market example that was purchased from Maranello Ferrari in Toronto in May 1994 by the current owner, who has since added approximately 12k kilometers of the just under 19k kilometers (~12k miles) shown. The car is finished in Rosso Corsa over black leather, and power comes from a mid-mounted 3.4L quad-cam V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Features include automatic climate control, anti-lock brakes, 17″ wheels, and power accessories. A timing belt service was performed by Pantuso Automotive of Nepean, Ontario in July 2020 along with a coolant flush,  an air-conditioning system recharge, an oil change, replacement of the spark plugs and deck lid struts, and a brake service and system flush. This 348 TB is now offered on behalf of its owner with a factory tool kit, service records and documentation dating to 1994, a clean AutoCheck report, and Ontario registration.

The Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in Rosso Corsa (300). The seller states that the right-rear fender was damaged when a truck transporting the car for service was involved in an accident in 2002, and subsequent repairs were performed by a Montreal-based Ferrari dealer. Replacement deck lid struts were installed in July 2020, and the pop-up headlights can be seen raised and in operation in the gallery.

Factory 17″ staggered-width five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires. Four-wheel disc brakes with black-painted calipers and a Teves anti-lock system were standard equipment on the 348, and a fluid flush was performed and the front and rear brakes were serviced in July 2020.

The cabin features seats trimmed in black leather, which extends to the matching dashboard, door panels, and center console. Features include automatic climate control, power locks, a heated rear window, and a gated shifter. The air-conditioning system was recharged in July 2020. The factory Alpine cassette stereo is nonfunctional, and the driver’s seat back is seized.

The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. The six-digit odometer shows just under 19k kilometers (~12k miles), approximately 12k of which were added during current ownership.

The longitudinally-mounted 3.4L quad-cam V8 features dry-sump lubrication and was rated at 300 horsepower with 238 lb-ft of torque when new. A timing belt service was performed in July 2020 along with an oil change, coolant flush, and replacement of the spark plugs. An invoice for the work is provided in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a dogleg-pattern five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential.

The September 2020 AutoCheck report shows history in Ontario from new and lists no accidents or other damage.
