This 1960 Morris Minor Traveller is a left-hand-drive wagon that was refurbished and modified by a previous owner in Seattle, Washington, moved to Oregon under subsequent ownership, and acquired by the seller in 2015 as part of a set including a 1955 Baycraft hydroplane on a matching trailer. The car is finished in seafoam green with varnished oak trim, and power is from a 1.4-liter Nissan A14 inline-four driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a narrowed Ford 8″ rear end. A new battery was fitted in 2019 and the oil gauge line repaired in 2020. This car, boat, and trailer package is offered with partial service records, spare parts, owner’s and shop manuals, and Virginia titles.
Sheet metal was repainted in DCC Concept Salt Green with custom pinstripes in 2006, and pictures taken during the work are shown in the gallery below. The rear body features refurbished oak structural members, ambulance doors, and sliding rear windows. Scratches are noted on the chrome surround of the body-colored grille. Slotted alloy 13″ wheels wear Morris center caps and Michelin all-season tires. A receiver hitch is fitted below the license plate.
The cabin accommodates four on late-model front seats with removed headrests and a folding rear bench in gray vinyl and patterned cloth upholstery. A banjo-spoke steering wheel sits in front of a body-colored dash housing twin storage compartments and a central Smiths speedometer with a fuel gauge and integrated warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, with under 1k driven under current ownership and the actual total unknown.
The cargo area is lined with black carpet and can be expanded by folding down the rear bench seat. A storage compartment for the spare wheel and accessories is located beneath the floor.
The stock drivetrain was replaced with a carbureted 1.4-liter Nissan A14 inline-four under previous ownership. The seller installed a new battery in 2019 and performed an oil change in 2020.
A four-speed manual transmission directs power to a narrowed Ford 8″ rear end. The car features rack-and-pinion steering and torsion bar suspension up front along with semi-elliptical leaf springs in the rear. Braking is from drums at all four corners, and the fronts were overhauled in 2011.
The 11′ Baycraft hydroplane was manufactured in 1955, and features a wood laminate hull with a flat bottom under the single-place cockpit as well as two front sponsons merging into a curved bow. The included single-axle trailer has been painted to match the car. The boat can be seen on the water in the video above.
Powering the boat is a two-stroke, 30-horsepower Kiekhaefer Mercury Mark 30 Turbo Four outboard drawing from a modern plastic fuel tank. Total running time is unknown. A period six-gallon fuel canister is also included in the sale along with a spare prop and shaft housing. A video of the engine starting is provided above.
Literature includes partial service records from 1995-present, Morris owner’s and workshop manuals, and show and auction descriptions. The car also comes with a themed wall clock. A driving video of the Morris is provided below.
