BaT Auction: 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

This 1966 Cadillac Eldorado convertible is powered by a 429ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and was acquired by the seller in 2015. The car is finished in light blue over a blue leather interior and features a white soft top, 15″ wheels, Twilight Sentinel headlights, power seats, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and an AM radio. Rear air shocks have been added by the seller, and recent service includes a new heater valve and an oil change. This Eldorado convertible is now offered with factory manuals and literature, service records, and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.

The body was taken to bare metal and repainted in light blue in 1995 following replacement of the right rear wheel skirt and repairs of the quarter panels, fenders, and a door. A white soft top is stored below the blue boot cover. Twilight Sentinel headlights are equipped, and the seller notes the bumper end caps show wear.

Steel 15″ wheels wear factory covers and are mounted with Roadway Classic whitewall tires. Air adjustable shocks have reportedly been added in the rear, and the car is equipped with power-assisted steering and drum disc brakes. The seller states the master cylinder was replaced.

The interior is upholstered in blue leather with matching carpets and simulated wood trim on the door panels. Equipment includes power front seats, an AM radio, power locks and windows, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and automatic climate control. The seller states that the air conditioning and cruise control are inoperable, and the power windows are slow to function.

A three-spoke steering wheel with a Cadillac horn button fronts a 120-mph speedometer along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, approximately 4,500 of which were added by the seller, who notes that the fuel gauge is also inoperable.

The 429ci V8 was rebuilt in 2000, and a receipt from the work is provided in the gallery below. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic THM400 automatic transmission. A new heater valve was reportedly fitted by the seller and an oil change was performed. Leaks are noted from the engine and transmission.

A handful of photos from the repaint process are also available in the gallery. A top demonstration and driving video is proved below.
