BaT Auction: 1983 Porsche 911SC

This 1983 Porsche 911SC is finished in Ruby Red Metallic over a tan and black interior and powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The car is said to have been sold new in Colorado and resided in California and Massachusetts in 2011 before it was acquired by the seller in an April 2019 BaT auction and subsequently moved back to California. Equipment includes a 930-style front spoiler, fog lights, Fuchs wheels, a sunroof, a MOMO Monza steering wheel, front sport seats sourced from a 930, cruise control, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo. Work performed during the seller’s ownership has consisted of rebuilding the shifter linkage, a re-torquing of the head studs, and replacement of the valve cover gaskets, sunroof seals, and battery. This 911SC shows 116k miles and is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records from 1991 onward, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Ruby Red Metallic (X7) and features H1 headlights with a relay kit, fog lamps, a 930-style chin spoiler, and a sunroof. The windshield is a replacement item, and the front trunk lid was repaired and repainted in 1994. New sunroof seals were installed during the seller’s ownership.

Fuchs wheels with black centers and anodized lips were reportedly sourced from a 951 and 930 Turbo and measure 16 x 8″ up front and 16 x 9″ out back. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires show 2011 date codes and should be replaced due to age according to the seller.

The cabin is upholstered in Champagne leather with black accents and carpets. The front sport seats are said to have been sourced from a 930 and both have been re-dyed to match the interior during current ownership. Additional amenities include a black headliner, air conditioning, cruise control, a Seine Systems gate shift kit, and a factory Blaupunkt Monterey cassette stereo.

A leather-trimmed MOMO Monza steering wheel featuring an extended hub and a Fuchs horn button frames a central tachometer and a 170-mph speedometer. The six-digit odometer shows 116k miles, of which approximately 2k have been added by the seller. The analog clock is said to run slow.

The 3.0-liter flat-six features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory-rated at 180 horsepower with 175 lb-ft of torque. Service performed in June 2019 by Gavin Autowerks of Oakland, California included a re-torquing of the head studs, replacement of the valve cover gaskets and battery, and completion of an oil and filter change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Additional underside photos are viewable in the gallery below.
