BaT Auction: 46k-Mile 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa

This 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa is finished in black over black leather and is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a removable Targa roof panel, 16″ forged Fuchs wheels, front fog lights, power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt Lexington AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car spent time in New York prior to its recent acquisition by the selling dealer, and it now shows 46k miles. Service performed in preparation for the sale included replacement of the battery, an oil change, and a general inspection. This 911SC Targa is now offered with a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title.

The body is finished in black (A1), and features a matte black Targa bar, a removable roof panel, and front fog lights. The car retains US-market lighting and rear bumperettes, and close-up photos of the finish and trim are provided in the gallery.

Forged 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels with black centers and polished lips and are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires, which measure 205/55 up front and 225/50 out back and show 2011 and 2013 date codes, respectively. Braking is handled by two-piston calipers with ventilated discs at all four corners.

The cabin features seats upholstered in black leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting protected by aftermarket black mats with a leatherette heel pad. Equipment includes a Blaupunkt Lexington cassette stereo, a Clifford alarm, power windows, cruise control, and air conditioning.

The three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in leather frames factory VDO instrumentation that consists of a central 7k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and an analog clock, along with gauges for fuel level, oil level, engine temperature, and oil pressure. 46k miles are shown on the six-digit odometer.

The 3.0-liter flat-six was factory rated at 172 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque when new, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. In preparation for the sale the selling dealer replaced the battery and performed an oil change and a general inspection.
