The Petersen Automotive Museum launched The Bruce Meyer Automotive Scholarship earlier this year to support students who are looking into an automotive career. The fund supports the ongoing hands-on education of teens and young adults who have a passion for automobiles and are interested in pursuing an automotive career, particularly those interested in working on classic cars. It was established in 2020, by Allan Shay, David Pyle and Kimmy Brauer, and creates a minimum of 5 scholarships annually for worthy individuals who are inspired by the automobile. Over $150,000 in donations have been raised so far for this year’s Gala, and a donor plans to match that amount. All interested in supporting the cause are encouraged to donate directly to the fund, here.
The fund provides hands-on experience to ensure all recipients of the scholarship leave with a foundation for their career. The program is anchored on 4 pillars including design, engineering, technology, and marketing, and all participants, no matter their focus, are educated on the culture and history of the automobile.
Over $150,000 in donations have been received thus far, with the goal of going beyond that amount with additional support.
