This 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider was manufactured on December 30, 1961, and delivered to Alfa Romeo, Inc. in Newark, New Jersey. The car later resided with an owner in Washington State for 46 years from the late 1960s through 2013. It was then owned by the Swig family in California before being sold to a collector in Massachusetts. The car is finished in red over a black and red interior and is powered by a 1.3L twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, chrome bumpers and moldings, 15″ Borrani wheels, and a Blaupunkt tri-band radio. This Giulietta Spider is now offered on dealer consignment with service records dating back to 2012, correspondence from the Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, and a clean Massachusetts title.
The body is finished in red and features a black convertible soft top, chrome bumpers and moldings, and chrome external hood and deck lid latches. According to the selling dealer, the bumpers were re-plated, parts of the body were repainted, and the convertible top was replaced during previous ownership. Paintless dent repair was performed on the deck lid at Watkins Auto Body of Birmingham, Alabama, in 2012.
15″ Borrani wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Koni red shocks and a replacement brake master cylinder were installed in 2012, and the four-wheel drum brakes were adjusted in February 2020.
The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black along with matching door panels, red and black carpets, and a two-tone dashboard. Equipment includes black lap belts, a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, and a Blaupunkt tri-band radio. The seat upholstery and door panels were replaced during previous ownership.
Instrumentation consists of a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil temperature, water temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 1.3-liter inline-four features dual overhead camshafts and a single Solex carburetor. Service performed in February 2020 included new spark plugs, adjustment of the ignition points and timing, a coolant exchange, an oil change, a replacement thermostat housing gasket, and replacement fuel and air filters.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
