This 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello is finished in Blu Tour De France over navy blue leather, and it is powered by a 5.5-liter quad-cam V12 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 18″ wheels, red-finished brake calipers, power-adjustable bucket seats, power windows, air conditioning, a Tubi exhaust system, and an Alpine CD stereo with USB connectivity. The car was first sold by Lake Forest Sports Cars of Lake Forest, Illinois in March 1999, and resided with several owners in California, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia prior to the current owner’s acquisition in March 2011. It shows under 67k miles, and recent maintenance included fluid services and replacement of the timing belts, accessory drive belts, water pump, and air-conditioning compressor. This 550 Maranello is now offered on dealer consignment in California with its owner’s manual and leather pouch, factory booklets, a factory tire kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The Pininfarina-designed aluminum body is finished in Blu Tour De France (522), and features front and rear lip spoilers, vents on each front fender, a hood scoop, integrated front fog lights, and quad exhaust tips exiting through the rear fascia. The hood, front fenders, and front bumper were refinished by Magnum Collision Repair of Marietta, Georgia in 2016, and the front bumper, hood, and front fenders were coated with a clear paint protection film by Atlanta Protective Films of Roswell, Georgia in 2016.
Factory 18″ five-spoke alloy wheels feature yellow ‘prancing horse’ center caps and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 255/40 up front and 295/35 out back. Red-finished calipers are equipped at each corner, and the brake rotors are cross-drilled all around and slotted up front. The brake fluid was flushed in February 2019, and the power steering fluid was flushed in January 2020.
The cabin is trimmed in navy blue leather with white piping on the bolstered power-operated bucket seats, and matching blue leather extends to the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional trimmings include dark blue carpets, dark blue floor mats with embroidered white ‘prancing horse’ logos, and a polished gate for the six-speed shifter. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows, and an Alpine CD stereo with USB connectivity and a rear-mounted Audison amplifier. Factory Jaeger instrumentation ahead of the three-spoke steering wheel consists of a 220-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure. Ancillary gauges in the center of the dash include readouts for oil temperature and fuel level, as well as an analog clock. The six-digit odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 35k of which have been added by the current owner since 2011.
The front-mounted 5.5-liter Tipo F133 V12 features quad overhead camshafts, and was factory rated at 478 horsepower and 419 lb-ft of torque. Service performed by Foreign Cars Italia of Greensboro, North Carolina in 2020 included replacement of the camshaft timing belts, accessory drive belts, water pump, and air-conditioning compressor, as well as an oil and filter change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted six-speed manual transaxle, and a Tubi Exhaust system is fitted. Work performed by Foreign Cars Italia in 2020 included a transaxle fluid exchange, and the clutch assembly and throw-out bearing were replaced in 2016.
Factory literature, tire inflation kits, and a stamped service booklet are included in the sale.
The September 2020 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Illinois, Washington, California, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia through its most recent entry in February 2020. There is currently a lien out on the car, and the owner’s lender will need to be paid off before the title can be transferred to the new owner.
