BaT Auction: Ferrari 250 Tool Roll

This tool kit was recently acquired by the seller and is said to have come from a Ferrari 250 powered by an outside-plug V12. Tools are held in a black vinyl roll and consist of an M. Riganti pillar jack, 500g hammer, Carello oil filter wrench, spark plug wrench, lead knock-off hammer, grease gun, hub puller, Weber carburetor jet key, two wooden-handle screwdrivers, 190mm cross-hatch pliers, and seven Beta wrenches. A spare Pirelli generator belt is also included. This Ferrari 250 tool kit is now offered in Battle, England.

The black vinyl roll features a brown leather handle and straps with buckles. The interior is lined with two leather straps that secure the tools. A tear to the jack pouch shows signs of previous repair, and corrosion is evident on the metal rivets and buckles. Loose stitching and other imperfections are pictured up close in the gallery below.

The seven Beta No. 55 double-open-end wrenches are made from chromoly steel and range in size from 8 to 22mm. Corrosion is visible on a few of the wrenches. Two flat-blade screwdrivers with wooden handles are included and pictured in the gallery. They feature shaft lengths of approximately 125 and 150mm.

The oil filter wrench wears a Carello stamp as shown above. A spark plug socket wrench equipped with a universal joint is also included and pictured in the gallery.

The M. Riganti pillar jack wears a worn blue finish and utilizes a hand crank and geared internals. It retains M. Riganti logos and a Bakelite handle. A one-kilogram lead knock-off hammer with a blue handle is included, as is a 500g hammer with a wooden handle.

The grease gun features a flexible nozzle and shows signs of corrosion to its finish. A 42mm hub puller and 190mm cross-hatch pliers are also included.

The trapezoidal Pirelli generator belt retains its blue and yellow packaging. A Weber carburetor jet key tool is also included in the tool roll.

The diagram above is said to be from a Ferrari 250 owner’s manual and identifies the pieces of a 250 tool kit.
