BaT Auction: Modified 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe 5-Speed

This 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 coupe is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over black cloth and powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Modifications include 18″ wheels, a ducktail spoiler, louvered rear quarter windows, LED headlights, Bilstein shocks, Recaro front seats with reupholstered rear seats to match, Alcantara interior trim, RS-style door panels, and more as detailed below. The car was first registered in California and relocated to Ontario, Canada in 2007, and it was acquired in 2019 by the seller. The seller has since added approximately 1k of its 186k indicated miles, and service in June 2020 included a valve adjustment. This 964 is now offered in Canada with removed factory components, receipts, an owner’s manual, a maintenance booklet, a Carfax report, and transferable Ontario registration.

The exterior is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic (L37U) and has been fitted with a front tow hook, LED headlights, tinted tail lights and corner lights, brake ducts, black side mirrors, louvered quarter windows, a rear ‘Flat Six’ badge, and a rear ducktail spoiler. The Carfax report lists repair estimates in February 2004 for the left-rear corner and March 2004 for the front, with no further information provided. The seller reports that corrosion was addressed at the bottom-right side of the windshield, which was cut out and subsequently refinished. The seller states that the roof of the car was also refinished at that time. Flaws include cracks and gouges on the rear bumper, stone chips on the rocker trim, and cracks and deformation of the front bumper. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Aftermarket 18″ five-spoke modular wheels were refinished in black, and wear colored Porsche crest center caps as well as Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires measuring 215/40 up front and 255/35 out back. Bilstein B6 shocks are said to be fitted.

The interior was reupholstered and features Recaro front seats with black cloth upholstery with contrasting blue stitching and weaved inserts with ring-grommet ventilation, rear seats trimmed to match, and Alcantara covering the RS-style door panels, dashboard, and headliner. The carpeting was also replaced, and Rennline floor trim is fitted up front along with an aftermarket shifter. The seller notes that the airbags and radio were removed.

A MOMO Prototipo steering wheel sits ahead of black-bezeled VDO instrumentation that includes a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and combination gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 186k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added by the seller over the previous year.

The 3.6-liter flat-six was rated for 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque in stock trim. The engine was rebuilt by K&B Auto of Vars, Ontario in 2015 at 180k miles, and the valves were adjusted in June 2020. A $10k receipt for the rebuild is provided in the gallery.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.

The removed seats, door panels, deck lid, wheels, mirrors, lights, quarter windows, steering wheel, and other components will be included with the car as shown in the gallery.

A binder of receipts, owner’s manual, and maintenance booklet will accompany the car.

The September 2020 Carfax report shows the aforementioned repair estimates in 2004 and lists registration history in California and Ontario beginning in February 1999.
