BaT Auction: 16k-Mile 1987 Buick Regal WE4 Turbo-T

This 1987 Buick Regal is one of 1,547 Turbo-T examples featuring the WE4 “lightweight” package with aluminum wheels and bumper braces, special badging, omission of a rear spoiler, and more. The car was originally delivered to Cambridge Motors in Minnesota and acquired by the seller’s father in 2016. Finished in black over a gray cloth interior, power is provided by a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes Gran Touring suspension, cruise control, air conditioning, and a GM-Delco concert sound system with a graphic equalizer. Now showing 16k miles, this WE4 Turbo-T is now offered by the current owner’s son with service records, factory manuals, a window sticker, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Minnesota title.

The body is finished in black and is equipped with body-colored bumpers with aluminum bracing, a front air dam, and “T” fender badging. All WE4 cars were optioned without a spoiler. Close-up photos of the paintwork, badging, and glass are shown in the gallery below.

Factory 15″ aluminum wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Assurance tires that show 2015 date codes. Gran Touring suspension came factory-equipped as part of the Y56 package, which also includes fast-ratio power steering. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features gray cloth seats with a matching dash, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include cruise control, air conditioning, and a GM-Delco cassette radio with a graphic equalizer. The seller states that the headliner has been replaced.

A three-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilting column sits ahead of factory instrumentation that includes a horizontal 85-mph speedometer as well as a light-up digital tachometer, fuel gauge, and boost-pressure gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just under 16k miles, around 200 of which were added by the current owner.

The turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 is equipped with a front-mounted intercooler and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed 200-4R Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission and a 3.42:1 limited-slip differential. Annual oil changes were reportedly carried out during current ownership.

The laminated window sticker indicates initial delivery to Cambridge Motors in Cambridge, Minnesota and lists standard and optional features along with a retail price of $16,464. An owner’s manual is also included in the sale, along with service records, two keys, a car cover, and period literature.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists emissions testing, registration, and history in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Florida. A potential odometer rollover is noted in 2001, and supporting documentation to show mileage consistency is provided in the gallery below.
