This 1975 BMW R90S is powered by an 898cc opposed twin paired with a five-speed transmission and finished in Daytona Orange and silver with red pinstriping. Features include Krauser panniers, a quarter fairing with a clear windscreen, dual front disc brakes, an analog clock, and aluminum rims. The bike was acquired by the seller in June 2017 and has since been ridden 600 miles as well as receiving an oil change. This R90S is offered with a tool kit and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The bodywork is finished in Daytona Orange and silver fade treatment with red pinstriping, and includes a quarter fairing with a clear windscreen. The bike is also equipped with a two-up seat, Krauser panniers, a chrome passenger grab rail, both center and side stands, and chrome mufflers exiting on either side of the rear wheel. A scratch on the fairing can be viewed in the gallery below.
Wire-spoke wheels with shouldered aluminum rims measure 19″ front and 18″ rear, and are mounted with Metzeler tires. Suspension consists of a leading-axle fork as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm on the left and the final drive enclosure on the right. Braking is from dual discs up front and an integrated drum in the rear.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline as well as a voltmeter and an analog clock mounted in the fairing above. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 600 of which have been ridden by the seller. Warning lights between the gauges include a brake failure indicator.
The air-cooled 898cc opposed twin produced 67 horsepower and 56 lb-ft of torque when new thanks in part to a slightly higher compression ratio when compared to the R90/6. An oil change was performed following the seller’s acquisition. Power is transferred to the rear wheel through a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft.
A tool kit, an owner’s manual, is included in the sale. A cold-start video can be viewed below.
