BaT Auction: 1991 Porsche 928 GT

This 1991 Porsche 928 GT is finished in Guards Red over black leather and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle. Features include a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and 16″ wheels. The car was delivered new to Marketing Autoshows in Reno, Nevada, and spent most of its life registered in Florida until being purchased by the seller in October 2016. This 928 GT shows 80k miles and is now offered with its window sticker, a toolkit, service records dating back to 1992, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The car has been refinished in its factory Guards Red and features pop-up headlights, a sunroof, body-color side moldings, and a black rear spoiler. Close-ups of the paintwork and exterior trim, as well as photos of the headlights in their raised position, can be viewed in the gallery below.

Factory 16″ Design 90 wheels have reportedly been refinished and are wrapped in 225/50 front and 245/45 rear Toyo Proxes tires showing 2016 date codes. The car is equipped with speed-sensitive power steering and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners.

The interior features black supple leather seats with position memory along with matching trim and carpets. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, an analog clock, and a factory-optional AM/FM/CD audio system. The seller reports that LED interior bulbs have been installed.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 180-mph speedometer, a 7,600-RPM tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 2,500 of which have been added by the seller. Cracks are noted on the gauge pod.

The aluminum 5.0-liter V8 features four valves per cylinder and is equipped with an aftermarket cross-over pipe. The timing belt, water pump, and head gaskets were reportedly replaced by the previous owner in 2015, and service performed since the seller’s acquisition is said to include refreshing the top end, powder-coating the intake manifold and cam covers, and replacing the fuel lines. An oil change and coolant flush were performed in 2020, and the removed catalytic converter is included in the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery.

The window sticker shows delivery to Marketing Autoshows and a total price of $83,684. Factory literature, service records, and a toolkit are also included in the sale.

The Carfax report begins in March 1992 and indicates no accidents or other damage. Registration history is shown in Florida, Montana, and Georgia through the most recent entry in February 2020.
