BaT Auction: 28-Years-Owned 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo 5-Speed

This 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo was acquired by the current owner in 1992 and is finished in red over a custom cream and burgundy leather interior. Power is provided by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine has been rebuilt and modified with an aftermarket turbocharger, a front-mount intercooler, custom intake piping, an AEM engine management system, and more as described below. The brakes and suspension have also been overhauled, and additional features include a sport roof, chrome 17″ wheels, a Pioneer stereo, aftermarket speakers, and a subwoofer. This Mk III Supra shows 88k miles and is now offered on behalf of the current owner with build photos, a modification list, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Nebraska title.

The car was delivered new in Red Metallic (3H1) and was refinished in the original color in the early 2000s. Features include removable roof panels, a front lip spoiler, mud guards, and a low-profile rear wing. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Chrome 17″ Mark IV Supra wheels are mounted with 235/45 front and 255/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Brake-system modifications are said to include slotted Brembo rotors, Goodridge hoses, and Porterfield carbon-kevlar pads, while the suspension is reportedly equipped with ARC and Cusco sway bars and Lipp stainless-steel traction bars.

The interior features custom cream and burgundy leather seats as well as matching factory burgundy plastics and carpeting. The audio system includes a Pioneer CD player, aftermarket cabin speakers, and a Bazooka bass-tube subwoofer in the trunk. Wear is noted on the outside driver-seat bolster.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a digital clock. Aftermarket boost-pressure and exhaust-temperature gauges are mounted on the A-pillar, and an air-fuel meter has been added to the instrument cluster. The six-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 75k of which have been added by the current owner over the previous 28 years.

The turbocharged 3.0-liter 7M-GTE inline-six is said to have been rebuilt using CP-Carillo pistons, Eagle connecting rods, and ARP hardware. The engine was reportedly further modified with the following components:

  • An AEM EMS stand-alone engine management system
  • A Precision Turbo PT6262 with billet turbine
  • An ARC intercooler with custom plumbing and intake
  • A ceramic-coated Blitz stainless-steel exhaust manifold
  • A custom stainless-steel exhaust and 46mm TiAL wastegate
  • Dual Walbro in-tank fuel pumps
  • Precision 1000cc fuel injectors
  • Ported and polished top end
  • An ARZ Performance oil pump

The seller states that recent service includes changing the oil and replacing the valve cover, starter, and clutch master cylinder.

The car was dyno-tested in 2012 and produced 438 horsepower and 432 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed R154 manual transmission.

A booklet of photos showing the work performed on the car is included in the sale, and a modification list provided by the seller can be viewed in the gallery below.

The Carfax report indicates no accidents or other damage and shows registration history in Nebraska. The walk-around video tour below shows the engine running and revving.
