BaT Auction: LS1-Powered 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer

This 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer was acquired by the seller in 2019, and a refurbishment was completed by Berkeley Garage of Denver, Colorado, in 2020. Work reportedly included stripping and refinishing the body in Harley-Davidson Vivid Black, blasting and powder-coating the frame and roll bar, installing the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 and 4L75E transmission, and fitting a 4″ suspension lift. Additional equipment includes black vinyl-upholstered TMI seats, a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, Wilwood disc brakes with hydroboost, Pro Comp ES9000 shocks, 35″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, and a custom dual exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers. This K5 Blazer is now offered with a clean Colorado title in the name of the seller’s business.

The body is said to have been blasted, repaired, and refinished in Harley-Davidson Vivid Black during the refurbishment completed by Berkeley Garage of Denver, Colorado, in 2020. The removable hardtop was coated in U-Pol Raptor bedliner inside and out, and is finished in matte black. The seller states that the bumpers and exterior trim were replaced during the refurbishment, and LED taillights and front marker lights are fitted. CST badges are present on both doors.

15″ Rally wheels were powder-coated gray and wear chrome center caps, beauty rings, and 35×12.50″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. Warn manual front lockers are installed, and braking is handled by a Wilwood master cylinder with hydroboost along with Wilwood front discs and factory-style rear drums. According to the seller, the frame was stripped and powder-coated gray during the build at Berkeley Garage, and a 4″ suspension lift is fitted along with Pro Comp ES9000 shocks and a factory-style front sway bar.

The interior features black vinyl TMI seats and door panels, a TMI center console, black carpets, and a black dash pad. Equipment includes a gray powder-coated roll bar, air conditioning, a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth and satellite radio connectivity, and Pioneer speakers. The seller states that the floor was coated in U-Pol Raptor undercoating prior to installing the carpet.

The billet steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, battery charge, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles,  and the seller states that approximately 10 miles have been added since the build completion . True mileage is unknown.

The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 was sourced from a 2001 Corvette with 29k reported miles and installed during the build at Berkeley Garage and features Dirty Dingo front accessory mounts, an orange and black top cover, an aftermarket engine wiring harness, and a factory-style GM ECU. Additional equipment includes a Mishimoto aluminum radiator, electric cooling fans, and an Optima red-top battery.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a 4L75E four-speed automatic transmission, an NP205 dual-range transfer case, and 3.73:1 front and rear differentials. The transmission is said to be a remanufactured unit, and a custom 3″ exhaust system is fitted with MagnaFlow mufflers. The seller has provided an overview and driving video below.
