This 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is a US-market example that was produced in June 1972 and acquired by the seller in 2005. The car, chassis 04122, is finished in black over black leather and features red accents on its Daytona-style seat inserts. A 2.4-liter Tipo 135CS V6 sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, and additional equipment includes a removable targa panel, limited-slip differential, power windows, air conditioning, and Cromodora wheels. The cooling system was serviced in October 2020, and a new battery was also installed. This Dino is offered at no reserve with service records and transferrable Connecticut registration in the seller’s name. All proceeds from the sale, including the BaT buyer’s fee, will be split between two charities: Save the Children, a non-profit organization that strives to give children from around the world a healthy start in life, and the LifeBridge Urban Scholars Program, a non-profit program designed to benefit the youth of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in black and features side vents, split chrome bumpers, US-market lighting, and a black removable targa panel. The seller notes areas of corrosion in the rocker panels and door bottoms. Closeups of the finish, trim, and lenses are provided in the gallery below.
Silver-finished 14×6.5” Cromodora wheels wear yellow Ferrari center caps and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Harmony tires showing date codes from 2004. The double wishbone suspension was refurbished in 2006 and features anti-roll bars front and rear. The braking system incorporates vacuum assist and four-wheel vented discs.
Trimmed in black leather, the cabin features red Daytona-style seat inserts as well as red carpeting and Ferrari-branded floor mats. The flocked vinyl dash covering has smoothed out and is pictured up close in the gallery below. Equipment includes a gated shifter, power windows, Borletti air conditioning, and a Grundig cassette stereo. The driver’s seat shows wear on its outer bolster and headrest.
A leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation, including a 170-mph tachometer, 10k-rpm speedometer, and clock, along with gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, about 7,500 of which have been added by the seller over the past 15 years.
The mid-mounted 2.4L Tipo 135CS V6 features a 65° cylinder bank angle, dual overhead camshafts, Magneti Marelli ignition, and three dual-barrel Weber carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and ZF limited-slip differential. An October 2020 service included refurbishing the heater core, as well as changing the oil and installing a new battery.
Chassis stamping *04122* can be seen in the engine compartment, and photos of the door jamb plate, rear trunk, and spare Cromodora wheel are attached in the gallery.
Additional underbody photos are included in the gallery below.
Service records dating back to 1994 are included in the sale. Invoices from Vantage Motors of Stamford, Connecticut, are pictured in the gallery and document more than $31k of work performed since 2006. Extra Dino-branded center caps are also included in the sale.
