This 1988 BMW M3 is finished in white over Cardinal leather and was acquired approximately 17 years ago by the seller, reportedly from the second owner. The car is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and modifications include a Supersprint exhaust system, a Euro-spec intake, a Jim Conforti ECU chip, Bilstein Sport shocks, H&R springs, and an Evo 3-style under tray, carbon fiber splitter, rear spoiler, and carbon fiber brake cooling ducts. A repaint was carried out in 2008 while more recent work in July 2020 included servicing the air conditioning system and performing a North Carolina state inspection. This E30 M3 is now offered with service records, removed factory parts, an owner’s manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The exterior was repainted its factory shade of Alpine White II in 2008 by Bassen Autobody Shop of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a replacement hood with Evo 3 seals was also installed at this time. Exterior features include yellow-tinted Hella Euro-spec Ellipsoid headlights, along with an Evo 3-style under tray, carbon fiber front splitter, rear wing with an adjustable carbon fiber DTM flap, and carbon fiber brake ducts. The removed rear wing, clear headlights, an Evo 3-style rear wing flap, and fog lamps are included in the sale. The seller notes a crack in the driver-side headlight as well as rock chips on the front bumper cover.
The 15” basketweave wheels feature BMW center caps and are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S-03 tires sized 205/55. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and the seller reports that a BimmerWorld brake cooling kit and stainless-steel lines have been fitted. Suspension modifications are said to include Bilstein shocks, H&R springs, Mason Engineering front and rear strut tower bars, and fixed front camber plates.
The cabin features replacement sport seats reportedly sourced from another E30 M3 and reupholstered in Cardinal leather from GAHH, along with matching door panels, carpets, and a black dashboard and center console. Amenities include an onboard computer, a cassette stereo, Evo 3-style dead pedal, and power windows. The air conditioning system was recharged with R134a refrigerant in July 2020 and fitted with a replacement system relay, coolant temperature sensor, and evaporator temperature sensor. An outlying leak is noted in the system, and interior flaws include a blemish on the driver’s seat and a faded rear parcel shelf.
An M-Tech 1 steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for fuel level, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows just over 154k miles, approximately 5,500 of which have been added by the seller.
The 2.3L S14B23 inline-four was factory-rated for 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. A Euro-spec intake manifold has been installed, along with an aluminum radiator, a Jim Conforti ECU chip, a Supersprint header-back stainless-steel exhaust, and an oil pan baffle. The SI board was rebuilt in 2004, and additional maintenance over the years is outlined on receipts provided in the gallery. The seller reports that a smaller battery has been installed and is not fully secured by the bracket. The removed exhaust is included with the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. A Z3 differential cover has been installed, and the clutch, shift linkage, flex disc, and transmission mounts were replaced during previous ownership. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below.
