This 1991 Toyota MR2 is powered by a mid-mounted, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and finished in red over black leather. Features include glass T-top panels, a rear spoiler, air conditioning, and power steering. The car was acquired by the seller in May 2019, reportedly from its original owner. Subsequent engine-out work consisted of replacing the clutch, throwout bearing, timing belt, coolant hoses, and ignition components. This SW20 MR2 shows 71k miles and is offered with owner’ and repair manuals, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Crimson Red (3J6) and features a front lip spoiler, fog lamps, side scoops, removable tinted glass T-top roof panels, and a rear wing. The paintwork and trim are photographed in detail in the gallery below along with several body panel VIN tags. Touch-ups are noted by the seller, who also points out that the hood sits above the left fender and its corners are bent.

Factory 14″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with Dunlop Sport A2 tires up front and Falken Ziex rubber out back. Four-wheel disc brakes came standard.

The cockpit houses manually-adjusted sport seats in black leather along with matching carpets and door panels. Amenities include power locks and windows, air conditioning, MR2-branded floor mats, and a leather shifter boot. The stock CD/cassette stereo is said to function with exception of its digital display.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline and a 160-mph speedometer as well as gauges monitoring boost pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 1,600 of which have been added by the seller.

The mid-mounted and turbocharged 3S-GTE inline-four displaces 2.0 liters and was factory-rated at 200 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 200 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, which was reportedly fitted with an aftermarket clutch, a resurfaced flywheel, and a new throwout bearing during an engine-out service in September 2019. Additional work is said to have included replacement of the “hoses from hell,” timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, and distributor cap in addition to resurfacing the exhaust manifold.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage and displays registration activity in New York and Massachusetts.
