This Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series is one of 500 examples produced worldwide and is finished in Arctic White over black leather. This is a stock example powered by a 6.2-liter M156 V8 driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Factory equipment includes adjustable coilover suspension, cross-drilled brakes, 19″ AMG wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, carbon fiber and aluminum interior trim, and Harman Kardon surround sound. Originally delivered to Mercedes of Beverly Hills, the car was optioned new with an iPod integration kit and had a total retail price of nearly $139k. It was acquired by the seller four years ago and now has just under 9,500 miles. A comprehensive service was performed in preparation for sale by Mercedes-Benz of Marin, as outlined in the listing below. This CLK63 Black Series is now offered in San Rafael, California, with its window sticker, owner’s manuals, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The CLK63 AMG Black Series was only offered in four colors: Obsidian Black, Imola Red, Iridium Silver, and Arctic White. The model featured DTM-inspired bodywork with lightweight flared fenders, a carbon fiber rear spoiler and matching rear diffuser. Notably, the Black Series was selected as the Official Safety Car of Formula One in its heyday. This car was delivered from the factory in Arctic White (650), among the rarest of the colors offered on this model.
This Black Series remains in original condition and shows factory finishes throughout, including all manufacturer stickers and labels. The body and paint are said to be in excellent condition. A small amount of road rash can be observed on the front portion of the rear fender flares.
The Carfax records that the car was sold new to an owner in New Mexico, and it remained in the state until 2014, by which time it had accumulated about 4,000 miles. Regular servicing was performed by Mercedes-Benz Audi Porsche of Albuquerque. In late 2014 the car was sold to its next owner in Florida, who would keep it for approximately one year while adding an additional 5,000 miles. In 2016 the car was acquired by its present owner.
The 19″ factory wheels wear Nitto Invo tires, which measure 265/30 up front and 285/30 out back and show dates codes from 2014 and 2015, respectively. Braking is handled by cross-drilled and ventilated discs all around, and the brake fluid was flushed and replaced this summer. A walk-around video can be viewed above.
The interior features black deep-bucket sport seats (811), rear-seat delete, and optional iPod integration.
A flat-bottom steering wheel was factory equipment and frames a 200-mph speedometer and an analog tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline. The car has been kept as part of the seller’s collection for the last four years, during which time it has been started regularly, but driven only about 100 miles.
The hand-built AMG 32-valve V8 displaces 6.2 liters and was rated for 500 horsepower from the factory. Most recently, this Black Series was serviced by Mercedes-Benz of Marin in August 2020. A ‘B’ service was performed and a new factory battery was installed. In addition, the spark plugs were changed, the brake fluid was flushed and replaced, the coolant was flushed and the air filter element was replaced. A receipt for this work is included in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are included in the gallery.
Included with the car and pictured in the gallery is the original window sticker, both keys, and the full set of original books including the operator’s manual, VIN-stamped maintenance booklet, service & warranty information booklet, COMAND operator’s manual, and other original paperwork neatly organized in the Mercedes-Benz pouch.
