This 1940 Ford F1 pickup was acquired by the seller in 2016, reportedly after spending 25 years in a barn on his uncle’s property in Minnesota. A subsequent overhaul included replacement of body panels, refinishing the truck in red over two-tone brown upholstery, and installation of a 347ci stroker V8. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed AOD automatic transmission and a 9″ rear end with a limited-slip differential. Additional features include polished aluminum wheels, a Mustang II-style front end, four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, aftermarket gauges, and a stereo. This F1 is offered with several build receipts, a cover, and an Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the fenders, truck bed, and side steps were replaced before the truck was refinished in its current red. Details include white Ford and V8 tailgate lettering, chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets.
Polished aluminum E-T wheels wear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires and are mounted over disc brakes at each corner. The chassis has been updated with a Mustang II-style front end featuring independent suspension with tubular control arms as well as rack-and-pinion steering.
The cab houses a two-tone bench seat, matching door panels with V8 logos, and sound-deadening material. A Ford-branded blanking plate covers the stock radio location, while an aftermarket stereo and air conditioning controls are mounted to the underside of the dash. The truck is also equipped with power windows. An Optima battery with a cut-off switch is located behind the seat.
An aftermarket banjo-style steering wheel with a V8 horn button frames AutoMeter instrumentation in a body-colored dash, including a 120-mph speedometer as well as fuel, voltage, oil pressure, and water temperature gauges. The digital odometer shows 1,800 miles driven since installation.
The 347ci stroker V8 is fed by a four-barrel Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor and capped by a finned Edelbrock air cleaner and Cobra valve covers. Cooling is from a black Walker radiator, and a billet distributor and serpentine belt system have been fitted. A dyno sheet in the gallery indicates that the engine produced 413 horsepower at 6k rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 4k rpm.
