This 1980 Porsche 911 SC Targa was purchased new at Pray Automobiles in Greenwich, Connecticut by the seller in February 1981, and it is finished in bright blue with a black Targa bar and panel over brown leather. The car is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six linked with a five-speed Type 915 manual transaxle, and equipment includes 16″ Fuchs wheels, power windows, and a vintage Kenwood cassette stereo. Service records dating to 2005 are included, and in preparation for sale the seller replaced the starter and spark plugs, rebuilt the right-front caliper, flushed the brake fluid, and performed an oil and filter change. This 911SC is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
Originally Tobacco Brown Metallic (464), the seller commissioned a color change to its current bright blue in approximately 1989. Equipment includes a black Targa bar and trim along with chrome sugar scoop headlight rings and front fog lights. Close-up photos of the finish and glass are provided in the gallery, and the mount for a car phone antenna is present on the rear window. The seller reports that the left-front fender was repaired in 1983 after being hit by a taxi.
Fuchs 16″ wheels are mounted with 205/55 Yokohama AVS ES100 front tires and 225/50 Falken Azenis PT722 rear tires. The braking system received a rebuilt right-front caliper and a fluid flush in November 2020.
The cabin features seats upholstered in brown leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Features include a Kenwood cassette stereo and power windows. A car phone and CB radio were previously installed and remnants of their wiring are present, and included invoices note that the retainers for the rear seats need to be replaced. Staining and discoloration are visible on the floor mats.
Instrumentation includes a central tachometer with 6,300-rpm redline and a 170-mph speedometer, as well as an analog clock and a suite of auxiliary gauges. Under 35k miles are shown on the six digit odometer, and the seller reports that they have added more than 100k miles during their ownership. True mileage is unknown, and cracking and deterioration of the steering wheel wrap are visible.
The air-cooled 3.0L flat-six is equipped with Bosch fuel injection and was factory rated at 172 horsepower. Service records are available dating to 2005, and include a valve adjustment in 2007, a fuel pump and filter replacement in 2012, and a new starter, spark plugs, and an oil and filter change in November 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed 915 manual transaxle. The seller reports that the clutch has been replaced twice during their ownership and additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
