This supercharged BMW S14 inline-four has been with the seller since 2010, and was installed in his 1988 BMW M3 track car before being removed for a rebuild by Vintage Sports & Restoration, LLC of Bow, New Hampshire in 2017. Details include bored and honed cylinders, custom domed pistons, EVO III bearings, a belt-driven Vortech supercharger, and a rebuilt valvetrain with Motorsport springs as well as a replacement connecting rod, timing components, harmonic balancer, and supercharger drive pulley. This S14 is offered in Georgia with a starter, alternator, wiring harness, and other accessories.
The engine was acquired by the seller as part of a 1988 BMW M3 track car, and the belt-driven Vortech supercharger had been fitted under previous ownership. A spun bearing at Barber Motorsports Park resulted in damage to the crankshaft and a connecting rod, and the engine was subsequently shipped to Vintage Sports & Restoration of Bow, New Hampshire for an overhaul.
The block was hot tanked, magnafluxed, bored, and honed before reassembly with EVO III main bearings, a micro-polished replacement crankshaft, and custom 9.5:1 pistons with coated skirts and domes. A new timing chain tensioner and rails, harmonic balancer, and custom-machined supercharger pulley were also fitted along with a refurbished oil pump.
The cylinder head was machined, the valve seats ground, and Motorsport springs fitted along with new valve guides. The block was bead-blasted and refinished, the supercharger bracket repaired, and a ceramic-coated exhaust header fitted.
