BaT Auction: 1958 Fiat 600 at No Reserve

This 1958 Fiat 600 is finished in blue with a black cloth sunroof over two-tone tan vinyl, and it is powered by a water-cooled 633cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. The car was refurbished during prior ownership, and is said to be one of two examples featured in the 2016 movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. It joined the seller’s museum collection in 2015, and the brakes were serviced and the car received a replacement battery and an oil and filter change in preparation for sale. This 600 is now offered at no reserve as part of the Malamut Fiat Collection with a clean California title.

The car was repainted in blue during prior ownership and features a black retractable sunroof panel. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, chrome side trim, and factory lighting with single-color taillamps. Close-up photos of the trim and finish are provided in the gallery.

12″ steel wheels are finished in white and are mounted with Fiat-branded hubcaps and BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires measuring 5.20-12. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums that the seller states were serviced during current ownership, and the independent suspension features a transverse front leaf spring with coil springs at the rear.

The seats are upholstered in two-tone tan vinyl with light-colored piping and matching door and interior panels, black rubberized mats, and body-color metal surfaces. Close-up photos of the interior trim and finish, as well as the inner liner of the sunroof, are provided in the gallery. The seller notes that the studio added removable blue seat covers to match the other Fiat 600 used during filming.

Veglia instrumentation is housed in a cream-colored surround, and includes an 80-mph speedometer with marked shift points, a water-temperature gauge, and a fuel-level gauge. Just under 61k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, less than 100 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a water-cooled 633cc overhead-valve inline-four which was factory rated at 19 horsepower. Induction is handled by a single Weber 28 ICP carburetor with a factory air cleaner housing. In preparation for sale the seller performed an oil and filter change and replaced the battery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Underside surfaces have been refinished in black, and included photos show the floors, suspension components, and brake drums.
