BaT Auction: 1960 Autobianchi Bianchina Trasformabile at No Reserve

This 1960 Autobianchi Bianchina Trasformabile is a US-market model that was first sold by Brenner Motors in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1960 and reportedly remained with the original owner for nearly 50 years. The car joined the seller’s museum collection in 2018, and is finished in pale blue and white with a black Trasformabile top over a two-tone brown and white interior. Power is provided by an air-cooled 479cc twin paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and during current ownership trim components were re-chromed, the oil was changed, and the battery was replaced. This Bianchina is now offered at no reserve as part of the Malamut Fiat Collection with factory literature, a tool kit, cancelled checks from the original owner, historical registration, and a clean California title.

The car is finished in pale blue with contrasting white pillars and window surrounds. The seller reports that the hood and trunk have been repainted, and the chrome trim has been replated during current ownership. The sliding fabric top is shown both open and closed in photos provided in the gallery below, which also show the condition of its plastic rear window as well as exterior flaws.

Silver-finished 12″ steel wheels are fitted with chrome wheel covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The front independent suspension features a transverse leaf spring, and rear trailing arms feature coil springs. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.

The cabin features brown vinyl upholstery with white vinyl piping and accents on the front seats, brown rubberized floor coverings, and two-tone door panels. Close-up photos of the upholstery and trim are provided in the gallery.

The factory two-tone steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation that includes a 70-mph speedometer and a  fuel gauge, along with warning lights for the dynamo, oil pressure, and exterior lights. Just under 17k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The forward trunk holds the fuel tank as well as the spare wheel. The tool kit and other components are shown in the gallery.

The rear-mounted 479cc air-cooled twin was factory rated at 16.5 horsepower. During the seller’s ownership the car has received an oil and filter change and a replacement battery, and early maintenance records are included in the sale and shown in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Corrosion is visible on underside surfaces, and additional photos showing the floors, suspension components, and more are provided in the gallery.

Manufacturer’s literature stows in a clear plastic folio, and photos showing copies of historic registrations and additional literature are included in the gallery.
