BaT Auction: 1961 Lancia Flaminia GT 2.5 1C Touring Convertible

This 1961 Lancia Flaminia GT was completed on March 23, 1961 and is one of approximately 421 2.5 1C convertibles produced, all of which were designed and built by Carrozzeria Touring. This example was delivered new in Italy and is said to have been refurbished around 2006 prior to its acquisition by the current owner in Belgium approximately four years ago. Finished in gray with a black soft top over red leather, the car is powered by a 2.5-liter V6 paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and features a single Solex carburetor, electronic ignition, and four-wheel disc brakes. This Flaminia convertible is being offered in Belgium by the seller on behalf of the owner with an Italian A.S.I. Passport and gold plate, Lancia and FCA Certificates of Origin, an owner’s guide, and Belgian registration in the name of the owner’s company.

The aluminum bodywork was designed, formed, and installed in Milan by Carrozzeria Touring using their superleggera construction technique, which involved wrapping a hand-formed aluminum skin over a steel structure. This example came factory-finished in Grigio Newmarket and features a black soft top along with quad headlamps, chrome trim, and dual exhaust outlets. A crack in the driver-side taillight lens can be seen in the gallery below, along with a touched-up paint chip and an area of bubbling at the bottom of the driver-side door. A gold ASI plate is mounted to the front grille.

The 400mm cream-colored steel wheels feature chrome beauty rings and hubcaps, and are wrapped in 165-width Michelin tires that were reportedly mounted in 2017. The car is equipped with independent front suspension, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. A full-size spare is found in the rear storage area, and the seller reports that the brake calipers, pads, lines, and ball joints were replaced in 2016.

The cabin was reportedly reupholstered in 2017 and features red leather on the rear bulkhead, tonneau cover, seats, and door panels, as well as a black dashboard top and gray carpets lined with matching rubber mats. Amenities include a floor-mounted shifter and a locking glovebox.

A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation that includes a 5,500-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and a 220-km/h speedometer with inset gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just under 93k kilometers (~58k miles), approximately 1k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.5-liter V6 features a single Solex carburetor and electronic ignition, both of which were reportedly installed in 2017. An upgraded water pump is said to have been fitted in 2018.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, and additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below. Areas of corrosion underneath the car are noted by the seller.

The Lancia and FCA Certificates of Origin from March 2018 show the factory colors and identification numbers, as well as indicating a numbers-matching engine.

A driving video is presented above, and cold-start footage can be seen below.
