BaT Auction: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is finished in burgundy with white stripes over a black interior and powered by a 302ci V8 paired with a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes 15″ Rally wheels, a cowl-induction hood, a rear spoiler, front disc brakes, a dual exhaust system, a Hurst shifter, and an AM radio. The car was acquired by the selling dealer 11 years ago, and subsequent service included a carburetor rebuild as well as fluid flushes. This Z/28 is offered with a Protect-O-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, past Iowa registration cards, and a clean Georgia title.

The Camaro was restyled for the 1969 model year with pronounced wheel arch body lines, quarter panel gills, and a pointed front grille. This example was finished in Burgundy (67) with a black vinyl roof cover from the factory, and paintwork was reportedly carried out under previous ownership.

Details include white racing stripes, a rear spoiler, a cowl hood, and Z/28 badging. Steel 15″ Rally wheels wear chrome hubcaps, beauty rings, and 215/65 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

The cabin houses bucket seats with headrests upholstered in black vinyl along with matching door panels and carpets. Simulated woodgrain trim accents the dash and center console. The car is equipped with a Hurst shifter and a pushbutton AM radio.

Instrumentation includes a centrally-mounted analog clock flanked by a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, voltage, and fuel level are mounted on the center console. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, with the actual total unknown.

The numbers-matching 302ci small-block V8 breathes through a Holley four-barrel carburetor on an aluminum intake manifold as well as a dual exhaust system. Fluid flushes and a carburetor rebuild were completed under current ownership. Photos of the DZ engine code, rough-cast serial number stamping, and casting numbers are displayed in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a numbers-matching Muncie M-22 Rockcrusher four-speed manual transmission and a BU-stamped 3.73:1 rear axle with a Positraction differential. Additional photos showing the drivetrain, suspension, and underbody corrosion are provided below.
