This 1971 Volkswagen Bus was acquired by the seller in California in 2012 and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The van was repainted red with a white roof during current ownership and fitted with Porsche Racing-style graphics and a roof rack. Additional equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with VW hubcaps, white-painted bumpers with overriders, a push-button radio, and an aftermarket dual exhaust system. The valve cover gasket was replaced and an oil change was recently performed. This Type 2 is offered with partial service records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body was previously finished in white and was repainted its current shade of red during current ownership and features Porsche decals, a roof rack, dual side mirrors, a white-painted roof and bumpers, and twin exhaust outlets.
Steel 14″ wheels wear VW dog dish covers and are mounted with 185/70 Leao Lion Sport HP tires.
The seats are trimmed in black vinyl with cream cloth inserts, and the cabin is equipped with a black dash, beige door panels, rubber floor mats, and a push-button radio. The headliner shows tears and separation, and cracks are evident on the steering wheel rim.
The 90-mph speedometer houses a five-digit odometer that shows just over 83k miles, approximately 14k of which have been added during current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The cargo area features a cork ceiling and a carpeted floor mat in the lower center section. Access is through barn-style doors on the passenger side of the vehicle as well as through the lift-gate above the engine compartment.
The air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle and has been fitted with an aftermarket exhaust and an alternator in place of the factory generator. Recent service is said to have included a replacement valve cover gasket and an oil change.
