This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS was special-ordered by the original owner in red with a white roof panel and exterior accents over a white leather interior. The car is powered by a carbureted 2.9-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Features include a gated shifter, an Alpine CD stereo, air conditioning, pop-up headlights, power windows, and special-order 14” Campagnolo wheels. A timing belt service was reportedly performed in October 2020. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this 308 GTS shows 35k miles and is offered in Connecticut with a tool kit, certificate of origin, owner’s manuals, factory literature, correspondence between the first owner and Ferrari, photos documenting the car’s assembly and transport to the US, service records since the 1990s, and a clean New York title.
The car was special-ordered in red with a white roof panel, side stripe, front cooling vents, and rear decklid louvers. Additional equipment includes an automatic antenna, black bumpers, and pop-up headlights. The selling dealer states that the driver-side quarter panel has been repainted and notes a scrape in the same area as well as areas of cracking paintwork.
The special-order 14″ Campagnolo wheels were shared with the Dino are wrapped in 205/70 Kumho Solus KR21 tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin features white leather bucket seats along with two-tone door panels, a black dashboard, and red carpets. Amenities include a gated shifter, an Alpine CD stereo, air conditioning, and power windows. The selling dealer notes that the seats have been re-dyed.
A leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel frames a suite of Veglia instrumentation including a 180-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An analog clock and an oil temperature gauge are situated to the driver’s left, and the five-digit odometer shows just over 35k miles, a handful of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The transversely-mounted 2.9-liter F106 AB V8 features quad carburetors and was rated at 237 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The selling dealer reports that the timing belt was changed in October 2020.
