BaT Auction: 50k-Mile 1993 GMC Typhoon

This GMC Typhoon is one of 210 examples that were finished in green and gray over black leather for the 1993 model year and it is powered by a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The car was first registered in Oregon and spent time in Alaska, Pennsylvania, and Michigan before being acquired by the seller in 2020. Equipment includes 16″ wheels, suspension lowering blocks, an aftermarket exhaust system, integrated fog lights, air conditioning, cruise control, and a factory CD stereo. This Typhoon shows just under 50k miles and is offered with service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Forest Green Metallic (WA387E) and the lower surfaces are painted in contrasting Argent Gray (WA6277). Exterior features include gold badging, integrated front fog lights, a roof rack, and a rear window wiper. Close-up photos of paint chips can be viewed in the gallery below.

Factory 16” wheels wear GMC-branded center caps and 245/50 Firestone Firehawk SVX tires. Lowering blocks have been added to the suspension.

The cabin features seating upholstered in black leather with contrasting gray plastics and carpets. Amenities include power windows and locks, cruise control, air conditioning and a factory Delco CD stereo.

A leather-wrapped wheel frames instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset boost pressure gauge along with additional instruments for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows approximately 49,850 miles.

The turbocharged and intercooled 4.3-liter V6 was factory-rated at 280 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that the heater core and alternator were replaced three years ago at approximately 49k miles.

Power is delivered to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a BorgWarner transfer case, and a limited-slip rear differential. The truck was equipped from the factory with a transmission cooler, and an aftermarket exhaust system has been added.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Oregon, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Montana through the latest entry in December 2014.

A walk-around video is presented above and footage of the engine running, along with a driving video can be viewed below.
