BaT Auction: 800-Mile 2005 Spyker C8 Spyder

This 2005 Spyker C8 Spyder was delivered new to Spyker of San Diego of La Jolla, California and reportedly spent the last decade as part of a collection in Ohio prior to its recent acquisition by the selling dealer. Now showing just over 800 miles, the car is finished in black over tan quilted leather and is powered by an Audi-sourced mid-mounted 4.2-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and limited-slip differential. Additional features include a body-colored removable hardtop, air conditioning, keyless entry, AP Racing brake calipers, engine-turned interior accents, center-lock wheels, and Koni F1 shock absorbers. This C8 Spyder is now being offered with an owner’s manual, a copy of the Certificate of Origin, a window sticker, a matching luggage set, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.

The C8 Spyder utilizes aluminum bodywork over an aluminum spaceframe chassis, and this example is finished in black with a body-colored removable hardtop. Features include electrically-operated scissor doors, a clamshell hood, polished air intakes, a rear diffuser, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the middle of the rear fascia.

The 18” center-locking wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires sized 225/40 up front and 265/35 out back. Stopping power is provided by AP Racing calipers paired with slotted rotors at all four corners, and the car rides on factory-equipped Koni F1 shock absorbers with front pushrod-actuated suspension.

The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with diamond-patterned stitching that extends from the bolstered seats to the dashboard, kick panels, console, and transmission tunnel. Sport seats with embossed Spyker logos on the headrests sit ahead of polished roll hoops and feature pass-throughs for the three-point restraints. Engine-turned accents are found throughout the cabin, and amenities include air conditioning, toggle switches for vehicle functions, and an exposed shift linkage and pedal box.

A leather-trimmed Aeroblade steering wheel fronts a 220-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 826 miles, a handful of which have been added by the selling dealer.

The mid-mounted 4.2-liter Audi V8 features five valves per cylinder and multi-point fuel injection to produce a factory-rated 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential.

The window sticker lists factory options and equipment along with a total suggested retail price of $275,806.25.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and displays registration in Montana and Ohio through the most recent entry in November 2020.
