BaT Auction: V8-Powered 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 5-Speed

This 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 that was fitted during previous ownership and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It is finished in blue over gray cloth and is equipped with 15″ American Racing wheels, four-wheel Redline disc brakes, Bilstein shocks, an ARB front bumper, LED headlights and fog lights, a trailer hitch receiver, air conditioning, a JVC CD stereo, an aftermarket sound system, and a Uniden CB radio. The seller acquired the truck in 2017 and has since added approximately 8k miles, recharged the air-conditioning system, and changed the oil. This FJ60 is now offered with a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.

The truck was repainted blue during previous ownership and features a Rhino lining finish on the lower body. Equipment includes an ARB front bumper with a brush guard, LED headlights, Heise fog lights, a power-telescoping radio antenna, a rear window wiper, a single exhaust outlet, and a trailer hitch receiver. Scratches and other imperfections are noted by the seller.

15″ American Racing wheels are fitted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires which were reportedly installed during current ownership. The truck is equipped with manually locking Aisin front hubs, and the seller states that a replacement master cylinder and brake booster, four-wheel Redline disc brakes, Bilstein shocks, a steering stabilizer, replacement front axle seals and bearings, a High Steer kit, and a Sky Manufacturing pitman arm were installed after his purchase.

The seats are upholstered in striped cloth and gray vinyl with matching door panels and gray trim. Interior amenities include air conditioning, a center console, a JVC CD stereo, an aftermarket sound system, a Uniden CB radio, manual wind-up windows, and rubber floor mats. The dash is cracked, the air-conditioning system was recharged in June 2020, and sound deadening and heat shielding is said to have been installed in the floors, doors, firewall, and quarter panels. The carpeting in the rear cargo area is deteriorating and a replacement carpet kit accompanies the truck.

The three-spoke steering wheel features an aftermarket wrap and fronts an 85-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm Sunpro tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 153k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 5.7-liter V8 was installed during previous ownership. The seller notes an oil leak and reports that the oil was changed in June 2020.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a replacement H55F five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes that a spring-over axle kit has been installed, as has a trailer brake and rear towing package.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and Utah from its first entry in 1992 to its most recent update in September 2019. The report indicates that a “Not Actual Mileage” title was issued in New Mexico in August 2018. A redacted photo of the current title is presented in the gallery.
