This 1940 Buick Century sport phaeton convertible is finished in maroon over red leather and is powered by a 320ci inline-eight mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a beige convertible top, dual side-view mirrors, rear coach doors, whitewall tires, and chrome bumpers and trim. The current owner acquired the car in 2013, and service since 2016 reportedly included an engine and transmission rebuild. This Series 60 Century is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Pennsylvania title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in maroon and features a beige convertible top shown raised and lowered in the photo gallery below. Equipment includes dual side-view mirrors, treaded running boards, and chrome bumpers and trim. The selling dealer notes scratches in the paint and pitting in the brightwork.
Steel wheels wear polished trim rings as well as dog-dish hubcaps with Buick script lettering and are wrapped in whitewall tires. A spare is stored in the trunk.
The interior is trimmed in red leather and features front and rear bench seats. A wood-look finish and machine-turned metal trim accent the dashboard. Other equipment includes a heater, an AM radio, a column-mounted gear selector, a clock set into the locking glovebox door, and a rear-seat armrest.
Instrumentation consists of a 110-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, charge status, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 5k miles, with true mileage unknown.
The 320ci inline-eight utilized an overhead-valve design and was factory rated at 141 horsepower. A three-speed manual transmission routes power to the rear wheels. Service since 2016 is said to have included rebuilding the engine, transmission, carburetor, and fuel pump as well as replacing the clutch, flushing the coolant, and cleaning the fuel tank.
