BaT Auction: 1974 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Cheyenne

This 1974 Chevrolet Blazer was purchased by the seller in 2014 and subsequently refinished in a two-tone yellow and white over a reupholstered tan interior. Power is supplied by a replacement fuel-injected 350ci V8 mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional work under current ownership has included servicing the front and rear differentials, installing an aftermarket stereo and speakers, and replacing the front leaf springs, wheels and tires, air conditioning system, gaskets and seals, spark plugs and wires, battery, exhaust system, and throttle body. This K5 Blazer is offered with service records, parts receipts, and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.

The body was repainted in two-tone yellow and white, and the headlights, taillights, parking lights, side trim, front bumper, hood hinges, door handles, and door latches were replaced during the refurbishment. The removable white hardtop includes replacement weatherstripping and seals.

Replacement 15″ steel wheels with polished trim rings are fitted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO tires. The shocks and front leaf springs were replaced as well as the power steering pump and steering stabilizer.

The interior features seats reupholstered in tan vinyl with a matching dash pad over replacement tan carpeting. An aftermarket stereo and speakers have been installed along with replacement dashboard vents and updated air conditioning system components sourced from a 1987 Chevrolet. The cruise control does not work.

The black two-spoke steering wheel frames a woodgrain instrument panel including an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer displays 70k miles, approximately 2,500 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 350ci V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1990 K5 Blazer and is equipped with fuel injection. Replacement components include the spark plugs and wires, air cleaner, throttle body, radiator and hoses, battery and cables, water pump, and oil pan. The rear main seal was also replaced, along with gaskets for the oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller notes that the exhaust system was replaced and that the front and rear differentials were serviced.
