This 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer spent time in New Mexico and Oklahoma before it was acquired by the seller in Texas approximately three years ago, after which a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was performed. The exterior was refinished in its factory Colorado Red, the interior was refreshed with tan vinyl upholstery, and the 360ci AMC V8 and three-speed automatic transmission were overhauled. Additional service included a replacement headliner, rubber door and body seals, installation of electronic ignition and fuel injection, and refurbishment of the brakes, suspension, heating and air conditioning, and steering. A fluid and lubrication service was completed in December 2020. This Grand Wagoneer now shows 129k miles and is offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
Cosmetic refurbishment performed during current ownership included removal of the windows and a repaint in the factory Colorado Red color, along with the installation of a new windshield, window and body seals, and window tracks, along with lubrication and adjustment of the windows including the tailgate glass. The door actuators were also replaced and the mechanisms were lubricated. The factory woodgrain trim and vinyl appliques were retained, and the exterior received a ceramic coating. LED headlights with Hella lenses were added using a relay-equipped wiring harness, LED brake light bulbs were installed, and the windows were tinted using Llumar ceramic tint.
Factory 15″ alloy wheels wear Hankook Optimo white stripe tires showing 2017 date codes. Service performed during current ownership included replacement of the power steering pump and steering box, with new hydraulic hoses and a new steering damper, replacement of the tie rod ends and steering components, new shock absorbers, an alignment, and replacement of the rubber brake hoses, master cylinder, front pads and rear shoes, rear drums, and refurbishment of the rear drum brake hardware.
The original leather outer seat upholstery was replaced with tan vinyl, and the corduroy inserts were retained along with the front seat-back material. The rear bench seat-back carpet was replaced and a faux Burberry fabric headliner was installed, with additional work including replacement air-conditioning components and a conversion to R134a refrigerant, along installation of an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth connectivity as well as a new heater core and related hoses. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, power accessories, and a Wagonmaster cup holder. The seller notes deteriorating carpet in the cargo area and a stain on the transmission hump between the front seats.
The two-spoke steering wheel with a leather wrap frames a 100-mph speedometer, a digital clock, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows under 129k miles, approximately 5k of which were added by the seller.
The refurbished 360ci AMC V8 received a four-barrel Edelbrock aluminum intake and a Holley Sniper fuel injection system, along with a Davis HEI distributor and spark plug wires. An oil change was performed in December 2020, and additional new or refurbished components included:
- Water pump
- Oil pump
- Alternator
- Engine Mounts
- Harmonic balancer
- Gaskets
- Fan, shroud, and fan clutch
- Radiator
