BaT Auction: 993-Style 1976 Porsche 911 Race Car 3.4L

This Porsche 911 began life as a 1976 930 Turbo before it was modified by Pat Williams Racing of Bartlett, Tennesse for SVRA Group 10 racing with 993 GT2-style fiberglass bodywork over a tube frame. The car is finished in green with white stripes over a stripped interior, and power comes from a replacement, naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle, the latter of which was reportedly sourced from a 996 GT3 Cup. Additional modifications include a MoTeC M600 ECU, a stainless steel exhaust system, adjustable JRZ shocks, 964 “big red” brakes, DCE Motorsport adjustable power steering, a dual master pedal assembly, a Coolshirt system, and an ADL data logger. This 911 was last on track at Road America in 2020 and is now offered by the selling dealer in Florida with a spare set of BBS wheels and a bill of sale.

The car features fiberglass 993 GT2-style bodywork finished in green with white stripes. Features include bolt-on fender flares, front and rear spoilers, tow hooks, Lexan windows, and a cowl-mounted electrical cutoff switch. Condition of the finish can be seen up close in the gallery.

Multi-piece 18″ BBS wheels are mounted with Pirelli P Zero slick tires. A spare set of BBS wheels is said to be included in the sale. The suspension features triple-adjustable JRZ shocks and DCE Motorsport adjustable power steering. Stopping power is provided by 964 “big red” calipers over discs at all four corners. A new fuel cell was reportedly installed in 2020.

The stripped interior features a full roll cage and a single Sparco racing seat. Features include Coolshirt and fire-suppression systems, an ADL data logger, and a dual master pedal assembly.

The replacement 3.4-liter flat-six was reportedly built by The 901 Shop of Stuart, Florida, and features individual intake trumpets, ITG air cleaners, and a MoTeC M600 ECU. The engine has been raced once according to the seller.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle sourced from a 996 GT3 Cup. A custom stainless steel exhaust system is fitted.
