This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is finished in Champagne Beige over white vinyl and is powered by a 289ci V8 paired with a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission. Features include an under-dash R134a air conditioning unit, a push-button AM/FM radio, and power-assisted steering and brakes. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2010 from a Southern California-based Ford dealer, and subsequent work has consisted of rebuilding the transmission, performing a tune-up, installing a suspension link kit, and replacing the heater box and cables, glovebox, heater core, fuel pump, regulator, alternator, rear pinion seal, and tires. This Mustang Fastback is offered with a shop manual, service records from current ownership, purchase paperwork from the seller’s acquisition, and a clean California title in the name of the seller’s wife.
The car was is finished in Champagne Beige (I) and features chrome bumpers and trim. The seller reports that the driver-side rear quarter panel received a repaint and dent removal following a tire blowout in 2020, and notes various areas of paint touch-up around the exterior. The 14” steel wheels feature polished wire hubcaps and are wrapped in 195/75 Hankook Optimo tires that were installed in 2020. A full-size spare is mounted in the trunk, and the seller reports that a replacement suspension link kit was installed in 2010.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench that have been reupholstered in white vinyl along with matching door panels, a two-tone dashboard, and brown carpets. Lap belts are fitted for front occupants, and amenities include a push-button AM/FM radio, an R134a air conditioning system mounted below the dash, and power-assisted steering and brakes. The seller reports that the heater core and various wiring was replaced in 2010, and notes that the removed seat coverings are included in the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 95k miles, approximately 2,800 of which have been added under current ownership.
The 289ci V8 was factory rated at 225 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The fuel pump was reportedly replaced in 2017, and maintenance in 2020 included an oil change along with the installation of a replacement regulator and alternator. The distributor, ignition coil, and spark plug wires were replaced in 2021, and the seller notes that the engine may require a rebuild.
