BaT Auction: Modified 1967 Ford Bronco

This 1967 Ford Bronco was first sold by the Kemp Motor company in El Paso, Texas, and it spent time in Colorado and North Carolina prior to its acquisition by the selling dealer in 2020. The truck was refurbished and modified during prior ownership, which included refinishing the exterior in yellow, refreshing the black interior, installation of a 302ci HO V8, and fitting a column-shifted three-speed automatic transmission. Additional modifications include a roll cage, fender flares, a suspension lift with Rancho shocks, front disc brakes, and aftermarket wheels. Recent work performed by the selling dealer included rebuilding the carburetor, servicing the braking system, fluid changes, and replacement of the water and fuel pumps as well as the alternator, gaskets, belts, fuel lines, and exhaust and ignition components. This modified Bronco is now offered with a soft top, a Deluxe Marti report, recent service records, and a clean North Carolina title.

The body was originally Springtime Yellow (8) as listed on the included Marti report, and was repainted in its current shade of yellow during prior ownership according to the selling dealer. Features include a roll bar, a hood scoop, quick-release hood pins, wheel-arch flares, ‘302’ badging, and a tubular rear bumper with a Jerry can carrier. Close-up photos of the body, trim, imperfections, and the included soft top are provided in the gallery below.

The suspension is modified with a Rancho lift kit, and aftermarket 15″ wheels are fitted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires. A steel spare wheel with a matching tire is mounted to the rear swing-away carrier. Braking is handled by vented discs up front and drums at the rear, and the system was recently serviced with replacement of the master cylinder and brake booster.

The interior is outfitted with replacement front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black upholstery and accompanied by a matching dashboard pad and carpeting. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a body-colored steel dashboard, which houses switches for a battery cutoff and electric fuel pump.

Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer ringed with an ammeter and gauges for temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

A 302ci HO V8 was installed during prior ownership and features a rebuilt carburetor, a polished Edelbrock air intake, an Optima red top battery, and wrapped exhaust headers. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a replacement three-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The seller notes the presence of an oil leak, and work carried out in preparation for the sale included an oil change, a transmission service, a coolant flush, and replacement of the following components:

  • Fuel pump
  • Fuel lines and fuel gauge sending unit
  • Alternator
  • Water pump
  • Exhaust components
  • Thermostat
  • Oil pan, valve cover, and manifold gaskets
  • Ignition components
  • Drive belts

The wheel wells and underside were treated with an application of 3M Pro Series undercoating. Additional photos showing the chassis, suspension, and brakes are presented in the gallery.

The Deluxe Marti report indicates the factory color scheme, options, a May 1967 build date, and production statistics. A driving demonstration is featured in the video below.
