BaT Auction: 1926 Mack Model AC

This 1926 Mack Model AC “Bulldog” is a 3.5-ton example that was reportedly used as a food supply and boat builder’s truck prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2020. The truck is finished in green with a yellow frame and is powered by a 471ci inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual chain-driven rear axle. Equipment includes a wood bed with removable sides, steel wheels with 38″ tires, front and rear lamps, a black vinyl seat, and a wood floor. An electric fuel pump and starter have been installed, and recent work consisted of rebuilding the radiator and overhauling the cooling system. This Bulldog is now offered with a California bill of sale.

Designed by Alfred Masury, the AC debuted in 1916 and was eventually given the nickname “Bulldog.” This example has been refinished in green over a repainted yellow frame. The replacement wood bed features removable sides and an aftermarket 12v power outlet. Additional equipment includes front and rear lamps, a wood windshield frame, side mirrors, a hand-operated horn, storage boxes, and a Bulldog radiator cap.

Multi-piece steel wheels are finished in yellow and wrapped in 38×7″ Goodrich Silvertown tires. Brakes on the rear jackshafts are activated with a foot pedal, and expanding rear-wheel brakes are operated with a hand lever.

The body-color cabin is fitted with a replacement black vinyl seat, wood floor panels, and an aftermarket dash-mounted fuel pump switch.

The five-spoke steering wheel fronts Stewart-Warner gauges for amperage, water temperature, and oil pressure.

Power is provided by a 471ci inline-four that produced 69 horsepower when new. An electric fuel pump and starter have been added, and recent work reportedly consisted of rebuilding the radiator and replacing the coolant hoses and additional cooling system components.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual chain-drive I-beam rear axle. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
