BaT Auction: 1960 Datsun 1200 Pickup

This 1960 Datsun 1200 pickup has been refinished in white over a dark brown and gray interior, and its carbureted J-series inline-four is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Other equipment includes a solid rear axle, 14″ wheels with hubcaps, chrome-finished trim, external bed hooks, and a bench seat. The seller acquired the truck in December 2019, and the radiator was repaired in late 2020. This Datsun pickup is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The truck was refinished in white under previous ownership, and it features chrome-finished bumpers and trim, external bed hooks, and a Datsun decal on the tailgate. Each side of the truck is shown in the photo gallery below, and imperfections in the finish are noted.

Black 14″ steel wheels wear beauty rings, Datsun-logo hubcaps, and 175/75 Primewell PS850 whitewall tires.

The cabin features a bench seat with dark brown vinyl upholstery and patterned gray cloth inserts, dark brown door panels, gray floor mats, and a tan fabric headliner.

A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes an 80-mph speedometer flanked by fuel-level and water-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added by the seller since late 2019. True mileage is unknown.

The carbureted J-series inline-four was installed at some point under previous ownership, and the radiator was repaired in late 2020. A photo of the serial number on the engine block is provided in the gallery, and it does not match what is inscribed on the identification plate attached to the vehicle’s firewall.

Power is delivered to the wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a solid rear axle. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.
