BaT Auction: 2005 MV Agusta F4 1000 Ago w/Mamba Kit at No Reserve

This 2005 MV Agusta F4 1000 Ago is one of 300 built and was equipped with one of 300 full Mamba kits by its original owner, who also installed brake and suspension modifications from Brembo, Bitubo, and Marzocchi. Power is from a liquid-cooled 998cc inline-four mated to a six-speed transmission, and clear-coated carbon fiber bodywork wears red accents. The bike was acquired by the seller in 2015 and subsequently fitted with Brembo wheels, a Mitch’s rear hub, a carbon fiber fuel tank and airbox, a titanium rear subframe, and a Jetprime high-flow water pump. Service in July 2017 consisted of replacing the tires as well as the fork seals and fluid, while oil and coolant changes were carried out in 2020. This F4 1000 Ago is offered at no reserve with certificates of authenticity, numbered triple clamp plates, stock Marchesini wheels, owner’s and workshop manuals, a titanium ignition key, a July 2017 service invoice, and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.

The Mamba special parts kit was released in 2005, and the full option shown here included clear-coated carbon fiber bodywork with red trim as well as an Alcantara seat, plastic mirrors, metal fuel tank, and airbox in black. A numbered triple clamp plaque and a certificate of authenticity were also provided and shown in the gallery below. Paint chips are noted on the left side of the tail section, as is a scrape on the frame near the shifter. The seller has replaced the fuel tank and airbox with carbon fiber versions as well as fitting a titanium rear subframe and repairing the headlight and turn signals.

Brembo 17″ wheels were fitted in 2017 and wear ZR-rated Dunlop tires measuring 120/70 front and 190/50 rear. A Mitch’s hub has been installed out back. A Bitubo piggyback monoshock was mounted to the single-sided swingarm under previous ownership, while the inverted Marzocchi fork was resealed in 2017. Braking is from a replacement Brembo master cylinder and radial calipers up front as well as a single disc in the rear.

Instrumentation includes an analog 17k-rpm tachometer and a digital readout displaying speed, coolant temperature, and an odometer that reads 17k miles, 500 of which have been ridden by the seller. The odometer was not functioning at the time of the seller’s purchase, and has since been repaired. Total mileage is unknown. Clip-on handlebars are mounted below the top triple clamp, which displays a numbered plaque listing the bike as number 35 of 300 equipped with the Mamba package.

The liquid-cooled 998cc inline-four produced 166 horsepower and 80 lb-ft. of torque when new and drives the rear wheel through a hydraulic wet clutch, a six-speed transmission, and a chain. A Jetprime high-flow water pump has been fitted by the seller, who also replaced the in-tank fuel lines. Oil and coolant changes were performed in 2020.

Ago and Mamba certificates of authenticity are included in the sale along with a numbered Ago triple clamp plaque, a set of stock Marchesini wheels, owner’s and workshop manuals, a titanium ignition key, and a July 2017 service invoice. The seller states that the Mamba bike cover and RG3 exhaust system are missing.
